I had the opportunity to take part in numerous marathon running events in Thailand and after talking to foreign strangers that manage to participate in the same event. I found out that there’s still some misunderstand about running event in Thailand.

Here is the guideline

Running in Thailand can be a wonderful experience due to the country’s warm climate, scenic landscapes, and friendly culture. Let me start in Bangkok, the Capitol of Thailand

Bangkok Marathon is the oldest running event in Bangkok but not the one local runner will recommend you to run

In Bangkok, there are several event that well-organize but the Amazing Thailand Marathon is the first in my mind. It typically features several race categories, including full and half marathon distances, as well as shorter races for runners of all abilities. The event is organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand and is aimed at promoting Thailand as a destination for sports tourism, while also promoting healthy living and exercise. The race is held in different locations throughout the country, with the route taking runners through some of Thailand’s most iconic and picturesque landscapes.

To choose best running event in Thailand, one of the leading candidate will be Bangsaen Series feature 3 separate event call Bangsaen42 for Full Marathon, Bangsaen21 for Half Marathon and Bangsaen10 for Mini Marathon and Fun Run. All three events registration decide by lotto except you are a previous year runner. Bangsaen21 is one and only platinum label half marathon in the world from World Athletics (WA.). Bangsaen 42 and Bangsaen10 are also WA elite label. Events held at Bangsaen, Chon Buri, a seaside town located Thailand. It is popular for its long sandy beach and street food stalls. Bangsaen beach is a popular destination for Thai tourists. The town is also known for its seafood restaurants, offering a variety of fresh and delicious seafood dishes.

Next candidate will be the Buriram Marathon, Buriram is a province in northeastern Thailand. It is known for its rich cultural heritage and historical sites, such as the ancient Khmer ruins of Phanom Rung and Muang Tam, both of which are located in the Buriram area and are considered important cultural landmarks in Thailand. Additionally, Buriram is famous for its stunning temples and religious structures, including the stunning Wat Khao Angkhan temple, which features intricate carvings and stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Buriram is also a popular destination for motorsports fans, as it is home to the Buriram United International Circuit, one of the most modern and well-equipped motorsports facilities in Asia. This circuit has hosted numerous international racing events and is considered a must-visit for motorsports enthusiasts.

The Buriram Marathon is known for its flat and fast course, which makes it a great event for runners who are looking to set personal best times. The course takes runners through the streets of Buriram, offering stunning views of the local landmarks and countryside. the Buriram Marathon also typically includes a number of pre- and post-race activities, such as expos, live music, and cultural performances. This makes it a fun and festive event that is enjoyed by runners and spectators alike.

You’ll be surprise to hear that the oldest running event in Thailand did not take place in Bangkok but in small town call “Chombuang” in Ratchaburi province since 1985. Start from community running event and develop into one of the best running event in Thailand. The Chombuang Marathon is known for its scenic course, which takes runners through the rural countryside of Chombuang and offers views of the local farms, forests, and rolling hills.

There also others event in Chanthaburi (Scenic), Songkhla, Krabi, Phuket (Phukethon), and Chiang Mai (CMU) that you can enjoy your run. In addition to its natural beauty, Thailand is also known for its friendly and welcoming culture, which makes it a great destination for running events. Runners from all over the world come to Thailand to participate in races and enjoy the country’s rich culture, delicious cuisine, and vibrant nightlife. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just starting out, running in Thailand is an unforgettable experience.
